At the end of each day
when the angels are done drinking off
the sunset, Heaven’s Chardonnay,
are they tipsy with sunlight?
A little high on sky,
that rumbling now,
all ribald and bawdy
under cloud cover.

No. That would be fallen [off the wagon] angels. You pay hell getting them out of your sky. The beer drinking ones are worse — all that bowling.
I really like the thought of sunset as a wine. Very cool image, Randall!

Oh man, HELL”S ANGELS busting up the place. Patching out in the parking lot. This was a really bad idea…

Maybe the ancients had it wrong. It wasn’t Vulcan smiting away. It was, uh, y’know? Let’s do a rethink, it was all too fraught with the Zeus and Hera stuff. I’ll start the International Society for Way More Fun Mythology. ISWMFM.

Hey, that would fit nicely on a licence plate – and drive those behind you to total distraction.

I’m thinking blazers and coffee cups… secret handshakes, even.

Wait, even better – we use the internet to promote conspiracy theories about it, Dan Brown makes it the basis of a novel, and we make a killing on the website promoting whacky nutritional products!

I think we should shoot for Neil Gaiman. Something with ‘gods’ in the title…
Then we focus on 60 ways to process kale. You’re on to something here.

I love this, imagining that crisp glass of chard in a cherub’s hands. Cool interpretation!

GOODNESS. I do believe I somehow missed this one completely. With this it is I who am now “a little high on sky.” Fantastic.

Real enjoyed this ! I took “drinking OFF” the sunset to mean they were drinking it up — loved that, and then the necessary ribaldish humor that followed.
I love when angels are stripped of the sacrosanct status!
