We play Voce like backyard Bocce –
rolling our tongues across verdure,
verbiage, herbiage, lawntastic poems
we’re having ball –
trying to avoid the gutter
or splitting infinities –
we’re Bowling for Dollars
(OK, maybe not)
but for a braggadocio moment
we win naming rights
in the Garden.
For dVerse Quadrille and friends.
Nothing like naming rights after a game of petanque!

HEAVENS. “splitting infinities” has that incredibly clever twist of phrase that you hook me with, every time. So good.

For all practical purposes a Porterhouse steak is infinite.

Naming rights in the garden, yes- fun ars poetics, and blithely pins our compensation, trying to be human, having dominion- not by subjugation, but by knowing a thing. This is great.

Splendid word play–and I love the sound of it, as well.
Plus “splitting infinities!” I almost wrote “splinting,” which would be a whole other thing. 🙂

your voice went on a merry jaunt with this – witty whiteboard words but also such a joy for the tongue

Another way to dent those infinities, which, given the limited range of vocal calibrations available to us, are certainly easier to botchy-bowl with rest of the rollers. A gelato of Italianate crotches here …
