A late summer sky so hot
you could cook extinction
on the pavement –
soon enough it will light the leaves
above my head
and they will burn to the ground,
comforting flames
before we cave to winter.
I am in harmony
with Nature here.
Late Quadrille for dVerse
“Cook extinction on the pavement’- excellent line!

I wonder… if the winter we wish for will soon be extinct.

Hahaha, yes. Although I think you would legitimately be able to question “what does that title have to do with anything in the poem?!?” I don’t know either.

I just raked me some leaves this morning… The township vacuum came around yesterday for our little slice of suburbia – got our pile and the neighbors and was full up. So this mornings several barrows full went across the street to the neighbors pile that will hopefully be picked up next week.
I am content with my four seasons. Saw a deer across the creek that boarders my back yard this morning… 😀
