“That morning the sun forgot to rise”
– Jim Harrison
Well sure
It had been wild –
Out late with the boys,
Sirius crazed after his breakup
With Andromeda.
Heavy drinking
At Izzy’s Black Hole,
Then laying tracks
Across the Milky Way.
The cops are still looking
For the son-of-a-bitch
Out shooting stars.
Any witnesses
To the takedown
At the Apollo?
And cosmic conversations
At Observatory Park
Overlooking the Strip,
The city lights and sea
A and B sides of the moon.
Then home to Burbank
To sleep it off.
Call in some cloud cover,
Take a rain day,
And call it a night.
There was a party and I missed it? LOL! The title sets up the vocabulary and tone and it is a running night of punny places and allusions of mythological proportions. Great smile to start my day 🙂

So glad. It was fun to be fun.

Oh my, SOMEBODY paid attention during mythology (and astronomy) classes! This was a hoot! A celestial fracas with plenty of suspects. Great write!

I did!
You obviously are getting into the Harrison thing. Can you see why his insanity works so well as jumping off points for poetry?

Yes, even though I frequently feel contrarian. But that works too, so just as valuable.

Yes… totally! If it makes you think… even contrary to it… it’s worth the exercise.

Yes. It is all ambiguous enough to create space, and provocative enough to make you want to engage. Really great.
