Spring – what a comedian! warms up on stage, daffodils crack like a joke through gaps in the pavement. We wait for it – but today's punch line a slagging, obscene wind – the crowd boos. Gardens are a three-ring spectacle – clown cars of tulips fill the planters, roses snap their whips in hoops of flame. Soon the flying trapeze and magic act of Summer – 'til then I rest my head in the jaws of tiger lilies.
Oh how I love the life you have given flowers here Qbit! This is brilliant and wonderful!! A three ring circus for all to see……pure magic of poetry!!

I like the “crack like a joke” line. Creative and also apt for that picture.

Bella! I can hear the calliope music from here. The spectacle of spring is worth the wait.

Spring does seem to be playing jokes on us. One day it is warm, the next day snowing. The opening verse is cleverly written as is the whole poem. You are a witty one!

I always enjoy reading your offerings, Randall, and trying to figure (in the case of picture prompts) how you got here from there.
Brilliant writing… as always.

Crazy mad clever! I cringe at the accuracy of it. (Always was distrustful of those tiger lilies.)

Tiger lilies are like the Jabberwocky! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch….

The cleverly composition of your poem is excellently well said and the beautiful calmness of the poem is exactly what I needed to read today. Love this work by you my friend. 🙂

I’ll take the clown car, I love them. In my generation the teens would mimic that by seeing how many kids could they get into their cars. I drove a pickup, that wouldn’t work for me.
